Philips 231P4UPES 23in IPS LED Display on sale from £221

We are quite fond of notebook docking displays as we’ve a fair few of them over the past four years. So we are equally excited to see that Philips has unveiled a new model called the 231P4UPES, one which is available from Misco for £221 and comes with a unique capability.

It is the first (and dare we say, only) monitor on the market with a USB 3.0 hub that can be used to transmit video (via Displaylink). This 23in model has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixel with a pixel pitch of 0.265mm, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a 5ms response time.

Other features include a VGA connector, a built in USB 3.0 hub, Ethernet and stereo speakers. Everything connects to your device using a single USB 3.0 port. We’ve asked Philips to lend us one of these monitors for a quick hands on and we shall report back as soon as possible.

The display can also pivot, swivel and tilt and is height-adjustable. At £221, it does carry a premium though and it will be interesting to see whether others like Lenovo or Samsung will bring out brand new monitors as well that use USB 3.0 connectors.
