Nokia Lumia 720 Windows Phone 8 smartphone goes on sale for £300

Expansys and a number of other UK retailers have put the Nokia Lumia 720 on preorder for £300. This Windows Phone 8 smartphone is the fifth one from Nokia after the Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 820 and Lumia 920.

Launched at MWC 2013, it is a mere 9mm thick and weighs 128g, making it one of the thinnest Windows Phone 8 smartphones on the market.

Other features include a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz, a front facing 1.3-megapixel camera with wide angle lens, a 4.3in ClearBlack display with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 6.7-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a 26mm focal length and an f1.9 aperture.

There’s also a 2,000mAh battery which can power the device for up to 13 hours, a microUSB port, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. Nokia also bundled a number of its own apps including HERE Drive, HERE Maps, HERE transit and Nokia Mix Radio.

Unfortunately though it’s hard to recommend it given that it shares a fair few features with the Lumia 520 which can be had from as little as £100 (i.e. a third of the price). The biggest difference is that the latter doesn’t have a front facing camera.
