Sony PS Vita 3G gaming console being cleared for £179

Carphone Warehouse has abruptly cut the cost of the Sony PS Vita 3G portable gaming console, a sign perhaps that it is clearing out existing stocks for a new version.

That model is now on sale for £179, that’s down from the official selling price of £179. In addition, Carphone Warehouse is bundling a 4GB memory card plus WIPEOUT 2048 with it which makes that deal even sweeter.

The PS Vita is certainly the most powerful dedicated gaming console in the world (there are mobile handsets way more powerful than it is though).

It has a 5in 960 x 540 pixel OLED display with touchscreen capabilities plus a rear touchscreen back as well. It is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A9 system-on-chip, similar to what is found in the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 or the HTC One X plus has two cameras.

There are 53 gaming tiles in all and the PS Vita is backward compatible with existing PSP titles as well.

Expect the console to deliver a battery life of up to five hours when gaming and nine hours when listening to music. You can read our review of the Wi-Fi version of the Sony PS Vita gaming console here.
