£499.97 Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 quad-core laptop with SSD, Blu-ray & dedicated graphics card

Meet the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 laptop, a bog-standard model available from Saveonlaptops from just under £500, a price that includes a free Webroot antivirus and a 12-month subscription to BullGuard Internet Security.

What makes it an interesting product is the fact that it combines a number of features rarely found on a device that cheap. For a start, it is powered by a quad-core processor, the Intel Core i7-2670QM which is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture.

This model is clocked at 2.2GHz (with a turbo boost to 3.1GHz) and has 6MB L3 cache. Then there’s that dedicated graphics card, an Nvidia Geforce GT555M model which comes with 1GB of video RAM.

Other notable features include a Blu-ray player, integrated JBL Sound System with Dolby Home Theater v4 and a 64GB SSD with an additional expansion slot for a SATA drive (given that you can pick a 1TB up for around £50, that’s a bargain).

The rest of the features is what you’d expect to find on a regular laptop; Wi-Fi, GbE, a webcam, three USB ports, Bluetooth, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, eSATA, HDMI & VGA ports.
