IBM System X3755 server with 128GB of RAM and eight Opteron cores for £850

If you need a server for your own usage with as much memory as possible, then have a look at the IBM System X3755, which is on sale from Bargain Hardware on eBay for a mere £850 with free delivery and 850 Nectar Points.

That model comes with a whopping 128GB of RAM (DDR2 667MHz), maxing out all the memory slots (16) that this server has. In addition, the server includes IBM’s own Xcelerated Memory Technology which claims to deliver up to 15 per cent faster access to data.

Other features of the IBM System X3755 include four AMD Opteron 8222 dual-core processors clocked at 3GHz (enhanced by IBM’s own CPU Pass Thru card), an IBM ServeRAID 8K 256MB SAS Raid controller with 256MB of memory and support for RAID 0,1,1E,10,5 and 6, two 1500W hot swappable PSUs, four 3.5in SATA/SAS hard drives, dual GbE Broadcom BCM5708 NICs, an optical drive and an ATI RN50 video adapter.

Expansion slots include four PCI-E ones, two PCI-X models and one MTX one. Interface connectors include two PS2, one VGA, three RJ45 and three USB 2.0.

Not that this is a refurbished server that doesn’t come with any warranty or OS.
