Samsung NP700G7C-S02 laptop, available from £1,500

Head over John Lewis if you are after a desktop replacement computer that packs some exceptional components with space to spare. The Samsung NP700G7C-S02 laptop is on offer, with three years warranty, for £1,499.95, weighs in at a hefty 3.8Kg and is a whopping 50mm thick.

The device runs on an Intel Core i7-3630QM processor, a quad-core model that is clocked at 2.4GHz and turbo boosts to 3.1GHz. Other features include a whopping 16GB of RAM, 8GB SSD (AKA Express Cache), a massive 1.5TB secondary storage (consisting of two 750GB drives), an Nvidia Geforce GTX675M video card with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, a 17.3in 1,920 x 1,080 display, a Blu-ray drive, four USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, Windows 8, a card reader, GbE Ethernet connector, a webcam and up to three hours battery life.

Samsung also packed a few other goodies like a “high quality gaming keyboard with a desktop layout, including ergonomic u-shaped key caps, a 2.7mm keystroke and separated arrow keys”, Dolby Home Theater v4 plus the ability to switch between four different modes; a green mode, a gaming, balanced and a library mode.
