Carphone Warehouse has put the Nokia Lumia 520, which was announced earlier this year, on sale for a mere £7 per month on a two year contract. That’s a total cost of ownership of £168 only, making it by far one of the better deals on the market.
The plan is available on T-Mobile with 50 minutes and 250 texts. Add 50p per month and you can upgrade to Talk Mobile. That includes 175 minutes, 500 texts and 100MB data, enough for a light user. It is very likely that the smartphone is unlocked (as are most Carphone Warehouse handsets).
The smartphone is rapidly turning into one of our favourite handsets on the market and it is easy to see why. It comes with a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a 5-megapixel rear camera but no front facing one, a 4in super sensitive display with a 800 x 480 pixel resolution, Nokia Music and Nokia HERE navigation apps (Drive, Transit), Cinematograph, Panorama and, of course, Windows Phone 8.
The Nokia Lumia 520 is possibly the best value-for-money Windows Phone 8 handset on the market narrowly ahead of the Huawei Ascend W1 and the Nokia Lumia 620.
