Acer CloudMobile S500 smartphone available from £180

Expansys is selling the Acer CloudMobile S500 smartphone for as little as £180. This smartphone was unveiled last year, just before MWC 2012, and is one of the best handsets south of £200. The online retailer only recently cut its price by another £20 to make it even more enticing.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260A SoC; this is a dual-core model clocked at 1.5GHz. Other features include 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 4.3in IPS display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution (with a Zero Air Gap technology which reduces reflection), a microSD card slot, a front facing VGA camera, an 8-megapixel one with AF and LED flash, Bluetooth 3.0, NFC, Wi-Fi, a microUSB port and GPS.

The handset won the product design award and the best design awards at IFA 2012 and Computex 2012 respectively. The Cloud Mobile S500 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and comes with Acer’s own user interface coupled with Acer Cloud services.

The closest rival to the S500 is the Sony Xperia T which retails for way more than £200. You can check our review of the Acer CloudMobile smartphone here.
