Philips Brilliance 298P4QJEB LED monitor goes on sale for £408

Online business retailer PC World Business is currently flogging the Philips Brillance 298P4QJEB LED display for a mere £409. What sets this model apart from many of its competitors is the fact that it is a 29in display with a 21:9 aspect ratio, making ideal to view cinematic content (without the black bars) or to display two documents side by side.

The Philips set uses a 21:9 Panoramic AH-IPS panel which provides with true 8-bit colour depth. In addition, thanks to Philips’ own TrueVision technology, the monitor achieves more than 99 per cent of the sRGB colour space with a delta-E factor of less than three.

The 298P4QJEB comes with an outer bezel thickness of only 2.2mm and supports DisplayPort 1.2a Multi Stream Transport (MST) technology with HBR2, which doubles the data throughput to 21.6 Gbps. You will need to make sure that your graphics card can support that resolution.

Other features include two speakers, two HDMI ports, DVD-D, a pair of speakers, a brightness of 300cd/m2, a 5ms response time, four USB 3.0 ports and an interesting SmartErgoBase monitor base.
