£225 Dell Inspiron M5040 laptop: ideal if you’re after an affordable device

There are a number of different versions of the Dell Inspiron M5040 laptop available on eBay but the one presented today is probably one of the better models. Cheapest Electrical, a popular eBay retailer sells a refurbished one for £225 including 12 months warranty as well as 225 Nectar Points.

The model runs on an AMD Brazos C60 APU which is clocked at 1.33GHz and come with an AMD Radeon HD 6290 GPU. Other features include 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, a 500GB hard disk drive, a 6-cell battery, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, three USB ports, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, a DVD writer, a webcam, a card reader, HDMI and VGA connector and a weight of only 2.35Kg.

The laptop is ideal for those looking to stay away from Windows 8. Note that in terms of performance it is likely to be a tad more powerful than Intel Atom processors. In other words, don’t put your expectations too high; this is a Netbook in a laptop’s body. You get a bigger screen, an optical drive and a proper keyboard as well.

A cheaper model with 3GB of RAM and a 320GB hard disk drive costs £15 less while one with twice the RAM but a smaller hard drive carries a price tag of £245.
