It could well be a misprice but if that’s not the case, this is probably the TV bargain offer of the month. Sonicdirect sells the Samsung PS60F5500 television set for a mere £1,000 that is about 20 per cent less than the competition for a product that has been launched only a few months ago.
The PS60F5500 is one of the few sets that manages to combine a big display (60in) with an affordable price tag (£1,000) which doesn’t include delivery however.
It comes with a full HD resolution, a dual-core Samsung Exynos processor, similar to that found in the Galaxy S2 smartphone, an S Recommendation feature that intelligently learns your preferences and suggests programmes on the fly for you.
It also includes a Freeview HD tuner, offers a 600Hz refresh rate, Wi-Fi connectivity, 3D capabilities with two pairs of 3D glasses (not that the display uses Active 3D which means that adding more 3D glasses will be costlier than for passive models.
Samsung also claims that the PS60F5500 is the first Smart TV to offer a full catch up service, one that includes ITV, BBC iPlayer, 4OD, Demand 5 and BBC Sports.
