For some reason, the price of external hard disk drives is cheaper than the equivalent internal hard drive despite the extra components and chassis needed to build the former.
Take for example the Toshiba 3TB Store.E Canvio external hard drive. It is only costs £87.99 at Ebuyer, a penny cheaper than the Intenso 3TB desktop memory center. In either cases, that’s a cost per gigabyte of 2.9p which is absurdly low and makes backup more affordable than ever.
Unlike many of its competitors, this model opted for a black and white chassis and wouldn’t look out of place next to an Apple iMac. It comes pre-loaded with the NTI Backup Now EZ software and is equipped with a USB 3.0 port.
Some have pointed out to the fact that it doesn’t have an on/off power button but the hard disk drive goes into sleep when not in use for long periods.
Note that it comes with two year warranty and is powered by an external power source rather than an internal one. Expect to pay an 80 per cent premium if you want to get a 2.5in hard disk drive that can be powered by the USB port (and is also way smaller).
