Acer Aspire XC300 desktop now available from £350

Ebuyer is selling the Acer Aspire XC600 desktop (DT.SLJEK.016) for £350 including delivery. For the outlay you land a quad-core Core i5-3300 processor clocked at 3GHz with a turbo boost of 3.2GHz and 6MB cache.

Other features include 6GB of RAM, a massive 1TB 7,200RPM hard disk drive, a DVD writer, Windows 8, Intel HD 4000 Graphics, keyboard and mouse, Wi-Fi (yes!), GbE LAN, a 220W PSU, eight USB ports (oddly no USB 3.0), an Ethernet port, two PS2 ones (still available), D-Sub, audio ports, a card reader but sadly, no HDMI port (although user reviews mention that there’s one).

So that’s a mixed bag when it comes to connectivity options. As for expansion capabilities, you get a PCI Express 2.0 x16 and a PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot, the latter being used for the bundled wireless card (which can be replaced by a USB Wi-Fi dongle).

Some customer reviews point to the fact that it is relatively quiet and is a small form factor PC, making it ideal if you want to use it behind a television to drive the latter. It is a mere 10cm x 37 cm x 27 cm, that’s a tad bigger than an A4 paper ream.
