AMD Temash based laptop emerges in China

Could this be the $399 Acer laptop with a touch screen display and Windows 8 that we reported on yesterday? It looks like it. The Aspire V5-122P-61454G50nss (also known as the NX.M8WCN.005) was listed on the Acer US website before being pulled down. The product page for this yet-to-be-announced device is still available on the Chinese website StoreHui where it is on sale for 3,599 yuan, roughly £360, significantly more than the $399 we were expecting.

The device comes with an 11.6in display with a 1,366 x 768 resolution and multi-touch capabilities. Other features include an AMD A6-1450 APU SoC, codenamed Temash, consisting of four x86 Jaguar cores with a maximum clock speed of 1.4GHz, 2MB cache an embedded AMD Radeon HD 8280 GPU, a DDR3 Memory controller and IO capabilities.

According to the listing, the laptop comes with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive (we’d prefer to have more RAM and less storage capacity), Bluetooth, Windows 8, Wi-Fi, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a card reader, HDMI, three USB ports a 3-battery cell, an Ethernet port, VGA and a weight of 1.38Kg.

Since it is apparently already available in China, one can expect it to ship over the forthcoming weeks in the UK. An A4-1200 version is also mooted according to the StoreHui listing.
