Twitter has released an update for its official iOS app, which brings some location and Vine-related updates.
The latest version, Twitter for iOS version 5.6, includes a new location-based Trends feature that lets you "see what's happening near you or around the world by viewing Trends in hundreds of locations," according to the update release notes. There's also improved playback of Vine videos, so you never have to miss another six-second cinematic creation.
If you still know any Twitter holdouts, you'll now be able to more easily pester them to join the micro-blogging service. Specifically, you can now invite friends to join Twitter right from the app.
In addition, if you reply to a retweeted tweet, your message will now automatically include the original author and the retweeter. Finally, the newly updated app should also bring a "smoother experience," overall thanks to a new round of bug fixes and other unspecified improvements.
Twitter for iOS version 5.6 is available for download in the App Store now.
Twitter has been busy as of late. The company this week also updated its Vine video-sharing app with some user-requested features like the ability to shoot with the front-facing camera and mention people in your video's caption.
Twitter also released a long-awaited update for the Mac version of its app recently, unveiled a new music discovery service for the web and iOS devices dubbed Twitter #music, and began rolling out keyword-targeted ads to users' timelines.
