PC World Business is currently selling the Samsung ATIV Smart PC (XE500T1C-A03UK) tablet for just over £485 excluding delivery. This hybrid laptop (you can remove the keyboard docking station and use it on its own as a tablet), also comes with a free five year warranty.
The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z2760 CPU, one that comes with two cores clocked at 1.8GHz, is based on the Clovertrail architecture and has 1MB of L2 cache.
The rest of the specs reads as follows; an 11.6in display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixel, an I.T. PowerVR SGX545 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 64GB onboard storage, AllShare play, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB ports, VGA and HDMI ones as well.
The tablet on its own weighs a hefty 744g, a weight that almost doubles to 1.45Kg once the clamshell keyboard is added. It runs on Windows 8 Pro 32-bit edition, includes a number of enterprise features like a TPM security chip and an S Pen stylus. Samsung is likely to launch a new range of tablets based on Windows 8 sooner rather than later, possibly with a smaller display size and a much lower cost.
