Carphone Warehouse sells Apple iPhone 4 8GB for “50p a day”

Carphone Warehouse sells the Apple iPhone 4 8GB smartphone for a mere £17 per month on a two year contract; that's a total cost of ownership of £408. The deal is available either on O2 (where you get 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data allowance) or on Three (which provides with 500 minutes, 5000 texts and 250MB data).

The Apple iPhone 4 is the first handset from the Cupertino-based tech giant to come with the Retina Display screen, the first to abandon the original curvy design and the first to carry an Apple-labelled system-on-chip, the A4. You can read our review of the Apple iPhone 4 smartphone here.

You can certainly get a much better smartphone for the price but given the premium and the cachet that Apple iPhone handsets usually carry, it is surprising to see that Apple is allowing Carphone Warehouse to do special deals on it.

The device comes with Facetime, a 3.5in 960 x 640 display, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, iOS5 (soon upgradable to iOS7), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, up to seven hours talk time, 512MB of RAM plus a front facing camera.
