Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone goes on preorder for £340

Online retailer Expansys has put the Huawei Ascend P2 on preorder for £340. The handset was announced back in February 2013 at MWC in Barcelona and you can view our hands-on of this smartphone here. An Expansys spokesperson told ITProPortal that the device - which will take over the Ascend P1 LTE - will be available in July.

The Ascend P2 is one of the very few smartphones to be compatible with the LTE Cat 4 protocol which allows it to reach download speeds of up to 150Mbps. It comes with a quad-core SoC, the K3V2, which is based on the Cortex-A9 and is clocked at 1.5GHz.

Other features include a 4.7in IPS 1,280 x 720 pixel display dubbed "Infinity Edge" that comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, a 13-megapixel camera with BSI and HDR capabilities, a front facing one, a massive 2,420mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Huawei Emotion UI, Wi-Fi, a microUSB port, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage and a chassis thickness of only 8.4mm.

Huawei has unveiled two other smartphones, the Ascend Mate and the Ascend D2, at CES earlier this year. At £340, the Ascend P2 will face some tough competition from the likes of the LG Optimus 4X HD or the HTC One X.
