In his second video, Dave Ridley, Technical Product Manager for IBM's PureFlex and Flex Systems, focuses on three areas where the IBM PureSystems hardware has a particularly compelling proposition. By way of adapters and switch modules, the selection of I/O options is phenomenal. Ridley also goes into more detail about the V7000 Storwize storage node, which offers both tiering and compression. Finally, he explains the chassis management module, which can monitor temperature with a high level of detail, and constrain power consumption.
This Flex System Manager node can also keep track of the virtual machines running on the hardware, which enables some very interesting management capabilities. It can set up and configure hardware, deploy to a hardware node, provision virtual machines, and even interface with third-party management products from other vendors.
In our next set of videos, we will be going into detail about what the Flex Systems Manager interface has to offer, and how it can radically simplify deployment.
