O2 puts Sony Xperia Tablet Z on preorder with freebies

O2 has put the 4G/LTe version of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z on preorder for £499.99; the offer includes £22 to spend on the Sony Entertainment Network on games, movies and music, as well as 1GB of data (albeit in 3G rather than 4G). The tablet went on sale worldwide earlier today and you can also get the 16GB Wi-Fi version from Sony for £399.

The Xperia Tablet Z shares its base specification with its smartphone equivalent, the Xperia Z. There's a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a 10.1in 1,920 x 1,2000 pixel screen powered by Sony's own Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 and Reality Display technology, 8-megapixel rear camera with Exmor R technology.

Other notable features include NFC, a microSD card slot, a microUSB one, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, IR capabilities, a front facing 2.2-megapixel camera, a weight of less than 500g and a thickness of 7.2mm. You can see our hands-on of the Sony Xperia Tablet Z here.

O2 is set to launch a 4G service later this year, possibly in Q3, as it announced a partnership with Vodafone last year and has enlisted BT to help it.
