Toshiba has introduced its own version of thin-and-light laptops to compete with the likes of Asus' Vivobook range or the Acer Aspire V5 series. Meet the Satellite P845T-10G which costs £399 at Ebuyer.
What is striking about this laptop is that it weighs 1.96Kg, less than some Ultrabooks on the market, but is still very thick at 29mm. It runs on an Intel Core i3-3227U processor clocked at 1.9GHz (two cores, 3MB L3 cache) and is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture.
Other features include an Intel HD 4000 Graphics subsystem, 4GB of RAM expandable to 16GB, a 500GB HDD, a DVD writer, a webcam, a 14in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution and touchscreen capabilities and Harman Kardon speakers with SRS Premium Sound 3D.
Connectivity includes an Ethernet port, Bluetooth 4.0, Intel Wi-Di functionality, Wi-Fi, three USB 3.0 ports (including two supporting sleep-and-charge), a card reader, HDMI but no VGA ports.
The laptop runs on Windows 8 and Toshiba has bundled an incredible amount of applications, most of which would probably count as bloatware. These include Tempro, Video Player, Desktop Assist, Recovery media creator, Eco Utility, Places and Service Station.
