Corel tries to position itself as an alternative to Adobe amidst Creative Cloud uncertainty

Corel announced a new pricing program aimed at users of Adobe's Creative Suite who are being encouraged by the company to move to its subscription-only model, Creative Cloud.

The offer, which is valid to users worldwide, will see some fairly tasty discounts offered to entice existing Creative Suite aficionados until the end of August.

Corel's CorelDraw Graphics Suite X6 for example sees a drop in price from £479 to £215 while Painter 12 (which is currently being offered for free with Graphics Suite X6 for a limited period) is available from £143 instead of £275. The three other software packages in the offer include Paintshop Pro X5, VideoStudio Pro X6 and AfterShot Pro.

Creative Suite users in America can look forward to even lower prices with the Graphics Suite X6 available from a mere $199. Interestingly, Corel also offers a subscription package for Graphics Suite X6, which costs just under £15 per month when purchase for a year, a package that provides with major version upgrades as well as Cloud-based content and services.

In recent years, Corel has taken over some iconic technology brands such as WinZip, Paint Shop Pro, Roxio and Pinnacle.
