This is a fifth generation Apple iPod Touch media player which offers almost all the functionalities of its bigger brother the Apple iPhone 5. This model is currently on sale at Currys for a mere £200, that's a 20 per cent discount off its suggested retail price.
Like the iPhone 5, it has a 4in Retina display screen with a 1,136 x 640 pixel resolution and a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Nike+ support, Lightning connector, a dual-core system-on-chip (albeit the older Apple A5 model), AirPlay mirroring, iOS 6 and a chassis that's a mere 6mm thick.
Its camera is an an iSight camera (albeit a 5-megapixel model) with tap-to-focus, full HD video recording, LED flash, hybrid IR filter, face detection, an f2.4 aperture, panorama mode. There's also a Facetime HD one.
Many will find that Apple's asking price for what is essentially a media player is way too high. But then bear in mind that this is essentially an iPhone 5 without phone capabilities and with an iPhone 4 camera.
Even with such a slim body, the iPod Touch can last up to eight hours doing video playback or 40 doing music playback. You can find our review of the 5th generation Apple iPod Touch media player here.
