Kogan unveils UK’s cheapest Smart TV, a £259 model that can be powered by a 12v PSU

Smart TVs have caught the imagination of the public with sales of these intelligent television sets likely to rise significantly over the next few years.

However, Kogan aims to bring down the entry price with a new product called the Agora Smart LED TV, a 32in HD ready television set that comes with a built in computer that runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. At £259 including free delivery, it is a fairly interesting proposal although we suspect competition will build up over the next few months.

The device has three USB ports, a 32in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution (with a 5ms response time, a brightness of 300cd/m^2, a dynamic range ratio of 30000:1), Wi-Fi, an Ethernet port, two HDMI ports, SCART, Composite AV, a VGA one and can even be powered by a 12v power supply unit (i.e. even from your car's cigarette socket).

The Agora Smart TV LED TV also comes with a built-in single-core ARM-based Corted-A9 SoC clocked at 1GHz with 1GB of RAM and a Mali400 GPU. You can also connect an external USB storage device to it (up to 1TB) and the television set consumes up to 60W and has a standby consumption of less than 500mW.
