You can now buy the Huawei Ascend P2 smartphone at Three from as little as £23 per month on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan on a two year contract. The plan comes with 500 minutes, 5,000 texts and all you can eat data, not bad for a total cost of ownership of £552.
If you want something beefier and with tethering, then check out the same handset on "The One Plan", one which gives 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts, 5,000 minutes to other Three mobiles and unlimited tethering, all for £26 per month or £624 for the duration of the contract.
The Ascend P2 was announced earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas at the same time as its (much bigger brother) the Ascend Mate.
It comes with a quad-core Hisilicon H3V2 system-on-chip clocked at 1.5GHz, a 4.7in 1,280 x 720 pixel display, a 13-megapixel camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, NFC, a 2,420mAh battery that can power the device for more than 12 hours, 16GB onboard storage, 4G compatibility, 2GB of RAM, all this in a chassis that's only 8.4mm thick.
In a nutshell, the P2 is similar to the Galaxy S3 (hence the pricing) with a better camera. Huawei will need to change the SoC to something beefier and upgrade the display to a full HD one to reach smartphone pinnacle.
