BlackBerry Q5 smartphone available from £350

You can get the BlackBerry Q5 smartphone on pre-order for as little as £350 from Unlocked-mobiles. The online retailer said that the first batch is expected to be available from 15 July.

For that outlay though, it hardly qualifies as an affordable phone. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S3 costs around £320 and the BlackBerry Z10 sells for £415.

The phone is a simpler version of the Q10. It has a 5-megapixel camera, BlackBerry 10.1 OS, a 3.1in touchscreen LCD display with a 720 x 720 pixel display and a QWERTY keyboard, 2GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 5-megapixel camera, a 2,180mAh battery, 4G/LTE compatibility and a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 clocked at 1.2GHz, Bluetooth 4.0 and a microSD card reader.

The Q5 is BlackBerry's third smartphone in 2013 and rumour has it that it won't be the last as well.

The company changed name earlier this year and its global share of the smartphone market has been shrinking and has even been surpassed by Microsoft's Windows Phone platform. Check out our reviews of the BlackBerry Q10 and the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone here.
