Argos sells the Lenovo G585 via its online outlet on eBay for a mere £225 plus £3.95 for delivery. The deal includes 225 Nectar points as well; it is worth highlighting that this laptop is refurbished but comes with 12-month warranty from Argos.
Other than Microsoft's Windows 8 OS, 4GB RAM and that gargantuan 1TB hard disk drive, the G585, which is part of Lenovo's mainstream laptop range, comes with a 15.6in screen that can display 1,366 x 768 pixels, three USB ports, HDMI and VGA ports, a DVD writer, a webcam that offers facial recognition (Lenovo calls it VeriFace), a pair of speakers, an Ethernet port and the lot is powered by an AMD E1-1200 APU clocked at 1.4GHz with 1MB of cache and two cores.
Other than the processor (which is similar in performance to a top of the range Intel Atom), this laptop would be more than adequate for mundane tasks (updating Facebook or checking emails). It is also fairly portable at 2.6Kg although its thick chassis means that it won't be on the shortlist of those looking for an affordable alternative to an Ultrabook.
