Cheapest dual-core laptop: £184 Dell Inspiron with 4GB RAM & 500GB HDD

Argos is selling a Dell Inspiron laptop on its eBay outlet for a mere £183.94, a price that includes delivery and 180 Nectar points. This particular model runs on an Intel Celeron 1007U processor, one of the latest entry level models from the semiconductor giant.

It runs at 1.5GHz, has two cores and whatever many have written, is not actually such a bad piece of hardware because it is based on the Ivy Bridge architecture and therefore has nothing to do with the old P4-era Celeron from a decade ago.

The Inspiron laptop also comes with 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard disk drive, a DVD writer, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, three USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, a webcam, Windows 8, Intel HD graphics and up to a whopping seven hours battery life.

Note that this is a refurbished model which means that it is likely that it was returned by a customer but still comes with a full one year warranty from the supplier. Dell Inspiron usually target the consumer or a small business audience. However, we have no qualms in recommending this particular unit for day to day tasks.
