Deal: Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 smartphone

Online retailer has slashed the price of the Samsung Ativ S Windows Phone 8 smartphone a bit further, down to £230 which represents a massive 54 per cent off the suggested retail price. Not bad for a device that's only nine months old; as far as I remember, only the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play managed to match that fall in price.

Still, the Ativ S is no Xperia Play. It runs on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, a 4.8in Super AMOLED HD display with a 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2, an 8-megapixel rear camera, full HD recording, a front facing 1.9-megapixel snapper, 1GB of RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot and a 2,300mAh battery.

When it was launched at IFA in September last year, we couldn't help but notice that it was essentially a Windows Phone 8 version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 given the resemblance between the two. Connectivity options are impressive with Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi (direct, classic, bonding), microUSB, NFC, A-GPS and GLONASS. Check out our review of the Samsung Ativ S smartphone here.
