Cheapest quad-core smartphone now available from £220

If you missed the deal from iBood on the Huawei Ascend G615, then check out this one from eBay power seller, e_cell which is offering the LG Optimus 4X HD, otherwise known as the P880, for as little as £220, making it by far the cheapest quad-core smartphone on the market.

The device is more than 16 months old, which explains why its price has fallen so much. It is still a seriously good smartphone though. Powered by a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, it will still be a capable handset when Key Lime Pie hits the market later this year.

Other features include a 4.7in 1,280 x 720 pixel display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot and Android 4.0 ICS. Sales of the Optimus 4X HD proved to be a rather disappointing, especially compared to the incumbent people's favourite, the Samsung Galaxy S3.

That's despite the fact that their specifications were almost comparable and that the S3 actually cost more than the Optimus 4X HD. Check out our review of the LG Optimus 4X HD smartphone here.
