Acer Iconia W3 8in Windows 8 tablet goes on sale for £310

Online retailer Dabs is selling the just-announced Acer Iconia W3 Windows 8 tablet (model number NT.L1JEK.002) for £309.98, the price includes delivery and a £20 discount when entering the voucher code PAYPAL20. The tablet is the first and possibly not the last tablet to come with Windows 8 (and now Windows 8.1) and an 8in display.

The latter has a resolution of 1,280 x 768 pixel (WXGA) and we're slightly puzzled as to why Acer didn't opt for a more prevalent 1,280 x 800, 7in display (maybe Acer wants to pitch the tablet against the similarly-priced Apple iPad which has a 7.9in display rather than the Google Nexus 7).

The Iconia W3 runs on a dual-core Intel Atom Z2760 CPU clocked at 1.8GHz with 1MB of cache, a PowerVR SGX545 GPU, 2GB of RAM, a massive 64GB SSD, Windows 8 (32-bit), a 2-cell battery that can power the device for up to eight hours, a front-facing full HD Acer Crystal Eye webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi, microUSB and microHDMI ports.

It would be interesting to see whether accessory manufacturers come up with a keyboard docking station which would convert it into a super slim netbook substitute.
