The HP ElitePad 900 G1 tablet PC is on sale at online retailer Misco for £558.18. However, if you have a relatively recent laptop or desktop in full working order, then you can trade it in for a £160 cashback (including £10 towards the delivery costs). This brings the price of the device down to a more palatable £408.18 which is a very good price for a Windows 8 tablet.
Note that the products being exchanged will need to be up to four years old and from a list of qualified manufacturers (you can find the terms and conditions of the offer on HP's dedicated website here). The offer ends on 31 July 2013 and any customer can exchange up to 50 tablets.
The HP ElitePad 900 G1 comes with an Intel Atom Z2760 CPU. That's a dual-core model with 1MB L2 cache and clocked at 1.8GHz with a PowerVR SGX545 GPU. The tablet also comes with 32GB SSD, Windows 8 Professional (32bit), a rear 8-megapixel camera, a front-facing 2-megapixe one, a 2-cell battery, Trusted Platform Module chip, a card reader, a 10.1in 1,280 x 800 pixel display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 2, NFC, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
At 680g and with a thickness of 9.2mm, it is not much heavier than an Android tablet with a similar-sized display. You can find out more about the tablet and register for an exclusive HP ElitePad Webinar here.
