Deal: Acer Aspire E1 laptop with Core i5 for under £260

Argos is offering a refurbished version of the Acer Aspire E1 laptop via its eBay outlet for a mere £260, a price that excludes delivery (£3.95) but includes 12-months warranty and 260 Nectar points. It runs on an Ivy Bridge-based dual-core Intel CPU, the Core i5-3210M, clocked at 2.5GHz with 3MB cache and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU.

Other features include 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive, Windows 8, a DVD writer, three USB ports, HDMI, Ethernet, a card reader, a dedicated numeric keypad, a 15.6in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel display, a battery that can power the laptop for up to 4.5 hours, an Acer Crystal Eye HD webcam, access to AcerCloud for seamless data storage and a weight of 2.5Kg.

This is a fairly bog-standard laptop and its biggest lure is its fantastic value for money. Other alternatives include the HP 655 laptop which costs less thanks to a time-limited cashback. Customers may want to upgrade the onboard storage to 8GB to make up for the system memory taken by the onboard graphics unit.
