Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8in tablet carries £280 price tag

One can argue that Samsung introduced this 8in version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet to compete directly with Apple's iPad mini. You can purchase this device (SM-T3100ZWABTU) from online retailer Dabs for £282.

The tablet is in fact a smaller version of the Samsung Galaxy 3 10.1 and share the same features with the notable exception of an ARM SoC in lieu of an Intel-based one.

The Galaxy Tab 8 has an 8in display with a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution, one similar to its bigger brother. Other features include 1.5GB of RAM (50 per cent more than the 10in display), 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 4.0, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel model, a dual-core Samsung Exynos 4212 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz and a 4,450mAh battery that can power the SM-T3100ZWABTU for up to 11 hours.

With a price tag significantly cheaper than the bigger 10in display, the 8in Galaxy Tab 3 might actually be a better buy. You can check out our review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 here.
