Deal: £700 Samsung NP740U3E-S02 touchscreen full HD Ultrabook

The Samsung NP740U3E-S02 captured a few headlines last year when it was launched because it was one of the first Ultrabooks to feature a touch display. It is now being cleared by John Lewis for just under £700, a £300 discount off its suggested retail price.

The UK retailer is offering a £20 discount when you purchase a subscription to Office 365 at the same time, one extra year of warranty plus six-months' worth of free broadband access on John Lewis broadband. You will need to pay the line rental though. You can also claim a Samsung Galaxy smartphone by the end of the month. It's actually the most basic model from Samsung's portfolio.

The laptop's specifications are very good for the price. You get a third-generation, Ivy Bridge Intel Core i5-3337U processor clocked at 1.8GHz with two cores and 3MB cache.

Three's also 6GB of RAM, up to eight hours battery life, a weight of 1.8Kg, 128GB SSD, Wi-Fi support, a HD webcam, HDMI port, USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, a dedicated AMD radeon HD 8550M GPU with 1GB GDDR3 memory, a card reader, Windows 8 and a screen resolution of 1,920 x 1,080.
