You can grab the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone from O2 via Mobiles.co.uk (a Carphone Warehouse subsidiary) for as little as £14 per month with an upfront fee of £50. That's a total cost of ownership of £386, which is around £90 more than the cost of the handset on SIM Free. The device, which was launched in March 2012, comes with 50 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB data.
Add a tenner (or under 40p per month) and you double your number of bundled minutes (to 100) while increasing the data allowance to 250MB. Alternatively you can stick to 100MB data and get 200 minutes instead. The plan should also theoretically include tethering, unlimited O2 Wi-Fi hotspot, Priority Moments and two months free O2 tracks.
We'd choose the Galaxy S3 over and above the Galaxy S3 mini should we be offered the two at the same price. The S3 is bigger but comes with a much higher screen resolution, a better system-on-chip, more onboard storage, more system memory, a better camera and a much better chance to run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie than its smaller brother.
