The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is one of the four variants that have been released in the wake of the Galaxy S4 in May. The three others are the Galaxy S4 Mini, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Galaxy S4-LTE. The first two are already in the market while Samsung has yet to confirm when the third will appear in the UK if ever.
The phone is available from BuyMobilePhones on Orange and T-Mobile for as little as £31 per month on a two year contract. Opt for Orange and get a £15 automatic cashback. That's either a TCO of £744 or £734 depending on the chosen deal which is around £250 more than the cost of the standard S4.
The T-Mobile deal includes unlimited texts, 600 minutes and 1GB of data allowance while the two Orange deals include either 600 minutes and 250MB data or 400 minutes, 750MB data, two free Swapables plus unlimited BT Openzone Wi-Fi.
The S4 Active swaps the 13-megapixel on the S4 for an 8-megapixel model and comes with an IP67-certification. That added ruggedness is likely to save users a fair amount in terms of insurance premium due to accidental damages. You can also consult the hands-on preview of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active here.
