£204 Asus X55A laptop with Windows 8 and a 500GB HDD

The Asus X55A is a cheap-and-cheerful laptop which has often appeared on our radar. This is an entry level model from the Taiwanese manufacturer and is currently on sale on Argos' outlet on eBay. This particular listing is for a refurbished model that comes with 12 months warranty and costs £203.84 with 200 Nectar Points.

The device runs on a dual-core Intel Celeron processor, the B815, which is clocked at 1.6GHz. There's also 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive, a 15.6in 1,366 x 768 pixel display, Microsoft Windows 8 OS, Intel HD graphics, a dedicated numeric keypad, a card reader, a DVD writer, a HDMI port, an Ethernet connector, Wi-Fi, three USB ports and much more.

Compared to a Netbook, this unit is significantly more powerful and has access to significantly more system resources. The X55A is slimmer than many of its similarly-priced rivals and is not much heavier than some Ultrabooks we've seen in the past. Indeed, it looks a lot like some 15.6in Ultrabook models that have been launched recently.
