Exclusive: Samsung ATIV Book 9 laptop appears online for £1,199, delivered from 9/8

Online retailer Very has put the Samsung ATIV Book 9 laptop on preorder for £1,199 with an estimated delivery date for the 9 August. This laptop, together with its hybrid cousin, the ATIV Q, was unveiled a couple of weeks ago and both come with a 3,200 x 1,800 pixel display, the highest on any portable devices.

The ATIV Book 9 is a mere 13.2mm thick and has roughly the same specification as the ATIV Q except that it cannot transform into a tablet. It does however have the same touch panel, a 13.3.in SuperBright QHD+ LED display with an awe-inspiring resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels.

Other features include an Intel Core i5-4200U processor clocked at 1.6GHz (with 3MB cache and a Turbo boost of 2.6GHz), 4GB of RAM, 128GB onboard storage, an Intel HD Graphics 4400, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, HD webcam, two USB ports, a microHDMI and a mini VGA one, a card reader, two speakers and Windows 8.

The ATIV Book 9 clearly targets both of Apple MacBook laptop ranges, the Pro and the Air. But there are some compromises like the rather miserly 4GB system memory.
