Deal: Gemini Joytab 7020 dual-core tablet down to £80 with free case and card

Online retailer Box sells the Gemini Joytab 7020 tablet for £80, a price that includes 240 Nectar points and free delivery. This is a dual-core tablet and it comes with a free slip case, an 8GB microSD card slot and is a brand new model rather than a refurbished one.

It runs on an iMAPx15 system-on-chip which is based either on the Cortex-A7 or A9 architecture. There's also 1GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage (that can be doubled thanks to the bundled 8GB microSD card), a 7in display with a 1,024 x 600 pixel display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Wi-Fi, a webcam, a microUSB port and up to four hours battery life.

One can expect cheap quad-core tablets, based on the Cortex-A5 architecture, to rule the very bottom of the tablet market with Cortex-A7 class and Cortex-A15 class models occupying the middle and very top of the tablet market.

The entry level segment has seen a change in dynamics because of the introduction of the Google Nexus 7 tablet in the second half of the year. This caused a number of vendors to review their plans. Samsung kept a low profile deliberately and didn't update the Galaxy Tab 2 until later this year.
