Deal: Asus Taichi laptop for £1,040

It is hard to believe that until only a few months ago, this laptop was retailing for just under £1,500. Now you can buy the Asus Taichi 21-CW0009H, the finest laptop from the Taiwanese manufacturer, from as little as £1,040 at online retailer Currys (you have to proceed to check out in order to get 20 per cent off the current £1,300 price).

Note that stocks are very limited and that the Taichi runs on a processor based on the third-generation Intel Ivy Bridge micro architecture (a Core i7-3517U model clocked at 1.9GHz with 4MB cache and a 3GHz Turboboost).

Other features include 4GB of RAM, an 11.6in display with two 1,920 x 1,080 touchscreen displays, 256GB SSD, an SD card reader, Wi-Fi, Wi-Di compatibility, an autofocus 5-megapixel webcam, a stylus pen, Windows 8, mini VGA and mini HDMI, a 35Whr 6-cell battery, an island-style keyboard, Bang & Olufsen Ice-Power sound technology and Intel's HD Graphics 4000 GPU.

Incredibly, the laptop weighs a mere 1.25Kg (despite having two displays) and is only 17.4mm thick. You can check out our ASUS Taichi 31 preview: two sides of the story with two screens and one laptop here.
