Deal: £261 Toshiba Satellite C855 Core i3 laptop

This is the cheapest brand new, branded laptop in the country with a new Intel Core processor onboard. Meet the Toshiba Satellite C855-2F2, which costs £261, a saving of 38 per cent off its suggested retail price. The item is currently out of stock and will be shipped when it comes back to stock without any price increase.

The outside of the laptop is described by the manufacturer as having "a stylish crossline pattern to the lid, textured palm-rest and tiled keyboard."

The C855-2F2 runs on a second-generation Intel Core i3-2348M clocked at 2.3GHz with two cores. There's a whopping 8GB of RAM, a 750GB hard disk drive, a 15.6in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution, a DVD writer, an Ethernet connector, a HD webcam, three USB ports, a HDMI connector, SRS Premium Sound HD technology, up to four hours battery life thanks to a 48Whr battery.

Interestingly enough for an entry-level laptop, it comes with advanced features such as Face recognition, multi-touch touchpad, and Bluetooth 4.0. Other than Windows 8, Toshiba also bundled Skype, Microsoft Office Starter 2010, McAfee Internet Security (trial).
