Deal: £295 Acer Aspire V5 laptop with Core i3

Taiwanese manufacturer Acer came out with the Aspire V5 notebook as a way of bringing Ultrabook-like looks and dimensions to the mass market without the associated high price tag.

Dabs is selling a unit via its eBay outlet for £295 including delivery and 295 Nectar points, one that is powered by an Intel Core i3 processor, the i3-2365M which comes with two cores clocked at 1.4Ghz with 3MB cache and based on the second-generation Sandy Bridge architecture. It means that its graphics subsystem is likely to be a variant of the Intel HD 3000.

Other features include 6GB of RAM, a 500GB hard disk drive, a DVD drive, Bluetooth, HDMI out, an Acer Crystal Eye HD webcam, a card reader, threeUSB ports, a 14in display with a 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution, Windows 8, a Gigabit Ethernet connector, Bluetooth 4.0, a HDMI out connector and a rare feat on a laptop that size, a numeric keypad.

Disappointingly though it has a battery life of only four hours but that's partly due to the fact that it weighs 2.1Kg only (which translates into a much smaller battery). Check out our review of Acer Aspire V5-571 laptop here.
