Deal: £200 HTC Windows Phone 8X smartphone

Online retailer Expansys has slashed the price of the HTC Windows Phone 8X to a penny under £200, a £150 discount off its suggested retail price, a bargain for a phone that's a mere nine months old and currently sits at the top of HTC's Windows Phone 8 portfolio.

It runs on a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip clocked at 1.5GHz with 4G/LTE capabilities. There's also 1GB of RAM, 16GBn onboard storage, a 4.3in Super LCD 2 display with 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 2, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera, a rear 8megapixel one with BSI, a dedicated imaging chip and an f/2.0 aperture, Beats Audio with an audio amplifier, Bluetooth, a 1,800mAh battery, a microUSB port, NFC and Wi-Fi.

Expansys also sells the HTC Windows Phone 8S for around £170 while the similarly-configured Nokia Lumia 720 retails for around £250 (while the Lumia 920 fetches around £300).

One can expect HTC and others to unveil a new range of Windows Phone 8 smartphones later this year as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 600/800 models arrive on Microsoft's mobile platform. Check out our review of HTC Windows Phone 8X here.
