Logitech brings touch functionality to new wireless keyboard

Convergence - or combining two products into one - has always been a strong trend in technology. We've seen it in phones that double as still and video cameras and hybrid laptops that double as tablets. Now, the keyboard and mouse are merging too, with the Logitech Wireless All-in-One Keyboard TK820, which combines an ultra-slim wireless keyboard with a large, multi-touch clickpad.

The slim keyboard features a sleek design with a two-toned colour scheme - dark grey with blue accents along the edges. The keyboard design combines a full-size chiclet keyboard with a 4.17in square touchpad built in on the right-hand side of the keyboard, where a 10-key numeric pad would normally reside.

Putting the two functions into one device reduces desktop clutter, saves space, and lets you type and enjoy the benefits of touch without having to invest in a touchscreen or additional device.

In many respects, the touchpad is similar to the Logitech T650 Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad, with a clickable touch surface and multi-touch for one-, two-, and three-fingered gestures. The touchpad is made for Windows PCs, supporting 13 gestures unique to Windows 8, like three-fingered swiping between the desktop and start screen, or swiping from the edges for access to the Charms Bar or open apps.

The keyboard has a standard layout with media controls and Charms keys that further enhance your Windows 8 navigation, letting you cycle through open apps, jump to start screen search, and use Windows 8 sharing tools at the touch of a button. The keys themselves are also spaced and sculpted for a comfortable typing experience.

The keyboard connects wirelessly through Logitech's Unifying receiver, a tiny USB dongle that can be plugged in and left indefinitely, while also letting you connect up to five additional Logitech wireless products. Using 2.4GHz wireless connectivity provides an efficient, reliable connection that won't drain your batteries, but is largely free from lag and interference.

The Logitech Wireless All-in-One Keyboard TK820 is available online and in stores for £89.99. Logitech covers the TK820 with a three-year warranty.
