Riverbed Technology has introduced a new single appliance for network and application management.
The new product delivers both integrated application aware network performance management (aaNPM) and application performance management (APM).
By doing this, according to Riverbed, it can provide end-to-end performance management, from deep dive packet and network analysis through to application transactions and end user experience (EUE).
"With this release, customers now have a single solution to help maximise the performance, availability, and productivity of their critical applications," said Riverbed.
The system, which is Riverbed's AppResponse Xpert platform integrated with its Shark module and its Profiler appliance and Pilot software, combines end-user experience, application transaction analysis and deep network intelligence, for streamlined monitoring and troubleshooting of performance issues across application tiers, global networks and diverse user devices.
Giving IT operations teams more visibility into areas where issues could occur helps them identify and analyse situations quickly to minimise application downtime, says Riverbed.
Jim Frey, an analyst at Enterprise Management Associates, said, "The worlds of APM and NPM must come together if IT organisations are going to be successful in making the transition to application-centric operations.
"With this announcement Riverbed shows it is also on track following the OPNET acquisition to deliver solid, integrated products that make APM/NPM convergence a reality.”
