Deal: £169 Google Nexus 4 8GB smartphone

Looks like the Nexus 4 smartphone is on the way out as Google has slashed the price of this device to a mere £159 (plus £10 P&P) for the 8GB model. You need to add another £40 if you want to get the 16GB version which is extortionate in our views.

Even then though, the device is by far the best smartphone deal on the market. A near-33 per cent price drop indicates that Google will possibly stick to a pair of the Nexus 5 SKUs only and will not, like Apple, maintain past smartphones in the line-up.

For those looking for a bargain, grab one of the Nexus 4 and enjoy. The phone comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, with 2GB of RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a 4.7in display with a 1,280 x 768 pixel resolution, NFC, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2,100mAh battery and a wealth of connectors.

The only real sore point is the lack of microSD card slot which is the only reason to go for the more expensive 16GB model. You can read our review of the Google Nexus 4 smartphone here.
