Deal: £124 Asus MeMO Pad HD 7in tablet

The original Google Nexus 7 was probably the most ground-breaking tablet since Apple unveiled its iPad. It is therefore no coincidence that Asus, Google's partner on the project, decided to release an updated version after Google unveiled a new version with a much better hardware configuration.

Currys is currently selling the Asus MeMO Pad HD tablet for £123.50 after a five per cent discount when you enter the code TABL5 at checkout. Any customer purchasing a tablet is also in line to get two months Wi-Fi for free (although terms and conditions apply).

The device is powered by a quad-core system-on-chip from Mediatek, one that is clocked at 1.2GHz. Other key features include Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, 1GB of RAM, a 7in IPS display with a 1.280 x 800 pixels resolution, a front-facing 1.2-megapixel camera, a pair of speakers powered by Sonicmaster technology, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.

At that price, it is probably a better option than buying a refurbished Google Nexus 7.
