Acer has unveiled the K335, a lightweight, portable LED-based projector that the company says is suitable for home and business use. The projector, unveiled ahead of the IFA trade show in Berlin, is about midway in brightness between typical portable data projectors and LED-based palmtop or micro projectors.
The Acer K335 has 1,280-by-800 WXGA native resolution, a rated brightness of 1,000 lumens, and a 10,000:1 rated contrast ratio. Its LED light source is rated at a whopping 30,000 hours, which should cover the life of the projector.
The K335 measures 9.1 by 6.5in and weighs just 3.1 pounds. It can project a 40in diagonal image from about 4 feet away from the screen.
Among the K335's connectivity choices are an HDMI/MHL port, an SD card reader, USB and mini-USB ports. When it is connected via the MHL cable, a smartphone or tablet gets charged while projecting.
With built-in Office and PDF Document Reader support, the K335 can project PDF or Microsoft Office files directly from a memory card or USB thumb drive.
When equipped with an optional Acer MHL dongle, the projector supports wireless projection, allowing it to reproduce content through the Acer eDisplay, and wireless mirroring display projector from all certified mobile devices: smartphones, tablets and notebooks. It also supports DLNA for wireless sharing of multimedia content—music, video, and photos—from all supported devices.
