Former hacker and renowned security expert Kevin Mitnick to open IP EXPO

Internationally renowned Internet security expert and convicted former hacker Kevin Mitnick, will kick-off day one of this year's IP EXPO (opens in new tab) on 16 October at Earls Court 2, London.

Mitnick has over 30 years of experience in Internet security, and at the time of his arrest for cybercrimes and wire fraud in 1995, was the most wanted computer hacker in the world.

Since his release from prison in 2000, Mitnick has authored three books including 'The Art of Deception'. He is now a respected computer security expert and runs Mitnick Security Consulting.

Opening the first day, Mitnick will be speaking in a Q&A session during which he will delve into the world of hacking through social engineering and exploiting vulnerabilities in operating systems and telecom devices.

He will also discuss issues surrounding the recent NSA PRISM spying revelations.

Across the two day event, IP EXPO will features a number of innovative seminars and hands-on lab sessions covering a broad range of technologies, trends and issues, allowing visitors to engage with a variety of leading industry experts.

The keynote programme for day one will be rounded off with a panel discussion on new approaches to the evolving trend of software defined networking.

The debate, titled Network Transformation and Software Defined Networking, will be presented by four industry experts - Brad Brooks of Juniper Networks; Jason Kleeh of Brocade; Puni Rajah of Canalys; and Stefan Apitz of BOX.
